Warnings

Should Christians Get Vaccinated?

I was listening to a Christian radio station today as I drove. (It's a long story.) Anyway, there was a talk program on. It soon became clear that the topic was raising children, and the author being interviewed was describing how to handle angry outbursts like throwing toys down the stairs, slamming doors, etc. He was explaining the importance of finding out what your child is feeling in order to determine why they behaved in that way. Rather than discipline them for the wrong behavior, find out why they behaved that way and help them to evaluate whether their response was good.

The F-word

Let's assume for a second that you are reading about a movie, trying to decide whether to let your son go watch it with all of his friends. You find that part of the reason it got a higher rating was because of profanity. Now what do you do? Either you say, "Well, at least it isn't nudity. I guess you can go." Or you go to the parental guide on IMDB or some similar site to find out ...

Beware of False Shepherd Rob Bell

Every once in a while, I am reminded of something that I wish everybody knew: Rob Bell is a very smooth and deceptive man. Today I was reminded of this again when I read this post by Justin Taylor. Read it, and then warn your friends to stay away from Rob Bell--not to listen to him, read him, or watch his videos.

He has been leading people astray for long enough. It's time for the warning to go out.

An Age-Old Lie

Great news! According to the latest research, you're not going to die. I'm not going to die. Nobody dies. Death is just a figment of our imagination. No wait. Death is just an imagination of our figment. No. Sorry. Well anyway, it's something like that. You can read it for yourself here.

This lie is as old as they get. "You surely will not die", said the serpent. But none of us can escape the effects of the curse.

Standing in the Gap: Warning God's People

In my last post, I was speaking of the necessity of shepherds fighting God's enemies. I explained that it requires warning God's people away from those enemies. But that is only half of the story.
