Our first week at Kiwanis

Today was our first Sunday meeting at the Kiwanis International headquarters building. We had a wonderful time, with an Easter feast after the service. Everything went very smoothly thanks to all the help both from those in the church and the Kiwanis staff.

An Upcoming Move

This Easter Sunday, March 31, our church will begin meeting in a new location. We are very thankful to the Pike YMCA for allowing us to meet in their facility for the last three years, but we have outgrown the space they can provide. After more than a year of searching, we have found a wonderful new meeting space in the Kiwanis International headquarters.

We would appreciate prayer that the transition would be smooth, and that we can get all of the necessary work done in the coming weeks.

A Conference On Pastoral Care

The upcoming ClearNote Pastors' conference is going to be on pastoral care. I'm very much looking forward to attending, and I would encourage all pastors and elders who can to attend. It is one month from now, February 23-24, and the cost is only $50.

Praying for God's Mercy on the United States

Earlier this month was the 10 year anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. As I drove to church that morning, a man was standing on a bridge over I-465, holding a huge flag. He was still there when I drove back home from church. I saw one church that had filled its lawn with American flags. The rallying cry became, "We will never forget."

Quarterly Newsletter

One of my failures in the last year has been regular communication, especially with those who are supporting our work financially and in prayer from outside of Indianapolis. In an attempt to remedy that, I've created an email list that is for everybody who wants to keep up with what we are doing. Right now I'm shooting for sending out a quarterly newsletter by email. If you would like to receive it, please sign up here.

David Abu-Sara ordained

This past Sunday evening, at ClearNote Church in Bloomington, David Abu-Sara was ordained to the work here in Indianapolis as an evangelist. We have been looking forward to this for some time, and it is a great joy to be able to share the news with those of you who might have missed it.

Sermon Not Recorded (5/15/2011)

The recorder we use works fine... when it is present. :)

Easter Service Moved!

We had a minor setback this last week, and found out that we would not be able to meet in the YMCA on Easter Sunday. So with some quick planning, we've found a new location and changed the time. We will be meeting in a park for our service, and we will have a picnic right afterwards.

On Good Friday we will be going out in the neighborhoods around the park, inviting people to join us on Sunday. Please pray that God would use this service to call people to him, and that the weather would be nice.

No Sermon Recording From Last Sunday

Sorry everybody, but the recorder shut off about halfway through the sermon, because the battery died. So we don't have last Sunday's sermon on Acts 12:1-17.

Invitations to Preach

I love to preach. In case anybody was curious, now you know. It isn't easy, by any stretch of the imagination, but I still love preaching. Recently I've received two invitations to preach. The first one was at the Church of the Good Shepherd men's retreat last weekend. I gave 4 sermons (one of which was unplanned) on the topic, "Confess your sins to one another" from James 5. Some of the men from our church were able to attend, including a guest and even one man who recently moved away.
